Keyword
A keyword is a word or phrase that people may search for. Most commonly, people talk about how they rank for keywords in search engines like Google.

Because keywords can contain multiple words, they should more accurately be known as ‘keyphrases’, but are rarely called this. For example, “teacups for sale” would be a valid keyword.
